Spooky Wood Earrings
Hey ghouls and creeps! This week I wanted to repurpose some of the cutting files from other projects and make them into jewelry! The files that I pulled came from the Death Moth Resin Stained Glass project: https://britnijade.com/death-moth-resin-stained-glass/, the Punk Rock Kitty Toys project: https://britnijade.com/punk-rock-kitty-toys/, and the Bat Multi-Purpose Shelf project: https://britnijade.com/bat-multi-purpose-shelf/. Browse these project ideas for even more creepy crafting inspiration! But first, I’ll show you how to make two types of super cute but creepy earrings in this tutorial! Let’s get started!
I rated the Spooky Wood Earrings project as easy! Once you have your wood die cuts, apply paint or stain (optional), with minor assembly, and you’re finished!
Important note: These supply quantities are for one earring set!
Step 1: Cutting: Use the SVG or JPG files below to cut your selected images in Cricut Design Space or on a laser cutter.

Step 2: Painting: In this tutorial, I painted my wood die cuts with acrylic paint. In hindsight, I would recommend using a stain or spray paint to add color! The latter would have saved me so much time! Of course, this step is optional, don’t feel obligated to paint over that pristine wood surface!
Apply as many coats as necessary to both sides of the wood until you reach your desired level of opaque. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for drying times.
Step 3: Assembly:
Single Dangle: Begin by opening a 6mm jump ring and negotiating it through the hole of your earring. Once in, use needle-nose pliers to pinch the jump ring back together.
Open up a 4mm jump ring and place the 6mm jump ring inside. Then while keeping the 6mm ring inside the 4mm ring, thread your fish hook ear wire onto the 4mm jump ring. Use your needle-nose pliers to close the 4mm jump ring. Pro-tip: I like to pinch the ends of the jump ring so that they overlap for stability!
If you are wanting stacked dangle earrings, continue to the next steps! If not, you’re finished! Continue to the conclusion paragraphs!
Stacked Dangle: First complete the steps in the single dangle section above!
Then open up an 8mm jump ring and thread through the bottom hole of the top dangle and the top hole of the second dangle. Pinch the jump ring closed with needle-nose pliers.
Congrats! You’re finished! Wear these creepy-cute accessories with that spooky wardrobe of yours!

Do you sell these items in your Etsy store? What is the name of your store there?
Thank you!
Hey Susan! Unfortunately I don’t sell these currently through my Etsy store. Truthfully my store is on vacation mode until I can figure out what product types I would like to offer going forward. At this time I’m thinking I would like to offer digital pattern downloads and/or cutting files for die cutting machines. I will let you know when I open my shop again! Thank you for your input!
