Cat Clock Flip

Hey ghouls and creeps! I absolutely adore a kit-cat klock, and wanted to pair this kitschy piece with some spooky vibes in this quick and easy flip! Just a disclaimer, you will need a laser cutter or some other die-cutting machine capable of cutting through 1/8” balsa wood to make this project! Let’s get started!

I rated the Cat Clock Flip project as easy! Skills and techniques needed to make this project include: laser cutting, painting, and gluing with both spray adhesive and hot glue.

Step 1: Cutting: Using the JPEG or SVG files below, cut both wing sets out of your 6”X24” balsa wood piece.

Step 2: Painting: Now we can paint our wing sets! Begin by painting the front of your wing fronts, and the backs of your wing backs with black acrylic paint. Once dry, flip your wing backs to the front, and paint with white acrylic paint. Set wing sets aside until fully dried.

Step 3: Wing Assembly: The wings are now ready to be assembled! Using a spray adhesive compatible with balsa wood, apply adhesive to the unpainted sides of your wing fronts one at a time. Quickly but carefully place your wing fronts on top of the corresponding wing backs matching up all edges. Press the pieces together for about twenty seconds until they securely bond. Repeat these steps for the other wing set.

Step 4: Clock Assembly: You’ve successfully painted and assembled your wings, and now it’s time to adhere them to your kitty clock! Before gluing your wings, lay them next to your clock making marks where you would like them to be placed. Then apply hot glue to the bottom of each wing set and stick them to your clock, using the placement marks for reference. Hold each wing until they have completely bonded to your clock.

Yay! You’re finished! Now hang up your new and improved kitty clock with bat wings!
