Creepy Tea Party

Hey ghouls and creeps! For anyone that knows me around here, you know that I love my tea. So it was just a matter of time before I took on the project of styling/throwing a creepy tea party! I personally love the concept of drinking tea, while catching up with friends, all while snacking on bite-sized treats! Plus there are the added bonuses of at times elaborate and ornate decor/table settings that make the experience even more memorable! Below I’ve broken down the must-haves to throw that perfect creepy tea party.

1) Tea(duh): Hear me out before you skip to number #2! Before my guests arrive I’ll take tea orders to make sure that I have tea that matches everyone’s preferences. Tea is often pretty inexpensive so this shouldn’t be a big expense! Or there’s the option of selecting a couple of teas that are taste-inclusive. If I choose to take this route, I’ll opt for a black tea, green tea, and/or a white tea.

2) Something Savory: The key to tea party treats is to make sure your offerings are eatable by hand and can be eaten in a couple of bites. A few examples include bruschetta, cheese curds, crackers with meat/cheese, deviled eggs, and dips with veggies.

For my savory option, I usually make some variation of the tea sandwich. There are so many tea sandwich recipes! Usually, they consist of any combination of a protein and veggies with a spread(to keep the sandwich together). I chose to go with a cucumber tea sandwich, which has cream cheese, mayonnaise, dill, chives, lemon juice, garlic powder, and onion powder. They are so good! I definitely recommend them!

3) Something Sweet: Some options to consider for this flavor profile include pastries/tarts, scones, tea cakes, macaroons, or biscuits. I went with mini cupcakes because they can easily be consumed in one bite and who doesn’t love cake!?! If you’re looking for a healthier option, bring on the fruit! There are so many ways to skewer, stack, combine our favorite fruits to make yummy single bite delectables!

4) Decor: The sky is the limit with how you decide to decorate your table for your tea party! Personally, I love at least a floral bouquet coupled with a candle(s). Another strategy is to select a color palette and then pick items that match your colors and/or theme! To break up your tabletop use a table runner or napkins(like me!) to create visual interest! The plates you see in the photos provided were purchased at Homegoods, the teacups are by Tealyra, and the cupcake toppers are by me! You can purchase a set of your own tombstone cupcake toppers through the shop link in the navigation bar!
